Film & Photography Internship at Studio 15
Job Description
Location: Studio 15, The Barrack Block, Maker Heights, Cornwall, PL10 1LA (map link)
Application deadline: Sunday 28th July 2024, midnight.
Start date: asap.
Hours: Freelance, flexible working hours and days between August and November 2024.
Pay: £11.44 per hour, up to a total of £2,100 for the overall internship period. Approximately 183 hours total. Over a three month period, this works out at 61 hours per month, or around 15 hours per week, though hours and days are flexible.
Studio 15, run by Photographer Dom More and Film maker Tom Kirkman is looking for a film & photography intern to join the team. Be part of building this exciting new space through growing the online presence and assisting with commercial film & photography projects. You will also have use of the space and equipment to create your own work. In addition to studio related work, the role would include documenting events site wide including music in patchwork studios and exhibitions in the garrison gallery.
Studio15 is looking to build a continued relationship with someone with the aim being to work together on future projects once the internship is over.
About Studio 15
We are a professional Film & Photography studio based at Maker Heights, a stunning natural setting and heritage site on the Rame peninsula in Cornwall. The location is easily accessible from Plymouth via the Cremyll (foot and bus) and Torpoint (car) ferries. Maker Heights is home to a community of around 25 artists, musicians, creative and wellbeing companies who have their studios in a collection of Nissen Huts and a historic grade II listed Barrack Block. Studio 15 is based in the Barrack Block.
Internship at Studio 15
This internship is a learning opportunity open to applicants of all ages and social backgrounds with some experience in digital media production. Flexible working hours and days may include weekend work. During this internship, you will develop skills and experience in:
Photography and film-making by assisting in both commercial and creative studio work with established photographers and filmmakers Dom Moore and Tom Kirkman.
Media management including postproduction, logging and media archiving.
Filming live events around the site at Maker Heights, including gigs, art shows, wellbeing, heritage and other events.
Developing content for social media and online platforms.
Work on your own creative projects, with creative mentoring offered by Dom and Tom.
Business skills, assisting in building the profile of this exciting creative business.
Opportunity to continue working with Studio 15 across a range of film & photography projects beyond the internship period.
Our ideal candidate will be someone with:
A genuine passion for creative media production.
Basic skills in working with digital media, including both film & photography.
Ideally studying for, or already possessing a degree or postgraduate qualification in a creative media subject. Demonstrable self-taught skills and experience are equally applicable.
Basic experience with video editing.
Basic digital media management skills.
Social media and website skills.
Friendly, energetic and a great communicator.
A sincere interest in developing a career in film & photography.
